Installation Licenses Required
Who can Install Low-Voltage Lighting Systems
- Class 1 versus Class 2 products.
The ILC-xx0 controllers and their associated FLLA linear strips are deemed by UL as Class 2 Low Voltage Lighting Systems. Within the United States and Canada, Class 2 system have varying requirements depending on the voltage of the system. Those systems in the 12vDC range must use Power Supply Units rated at 5amps or less. Those systems running at 24v/48vDC have a maximum rating of 100 watts. In this case, an installer must posses a Class 1 license to install the AC wiring to the power supply. From the Class 1 power supply (24v/48vDC) to the ILC-xx0 requires Class 2 wiring which can be performed (depending upon local building codes) by those without Class 1 licenses. Please consult your local building department/inspector for more information.
