Minimum Requirements for Constant Voltage Linear (Tape) Light
Troubleshooting
Following are the requirements for Constant Voltage Luminaries compatible with ILC-xx0 Controllers
- Voltage Rating.
The ILC-xx0 constant voltage controllers will support Constant Voltage devices from 12v to 36Vdc. The front-end Power Supply unit must be selected to match the input rating of the constant voltage LEDs.
- Unique channels (colors/diode types) available on LED linear stripe (that are supported by ILC-xx0 constant voltage controllers).
See table below for current information.
- IP Rating.
Constant Voltage LED tape lighting of any IP rating is compatible with ILC-xx0 devices. Converging Systems manufacturers IP20, IP54 and IP65 linear LED devices referred to Flexible Linear Lighting Arrays (FLLA).
- Wire Gauge Required for Connection to LED Load from ILC-xx0 controller.
See this table that will help size the necessary multi-gauge wire to run between the ILC-xx0 controller and the connected load.
- Typical maximum run of Linear LED tape that can be supported with a signal feeder/leader input cable.
The maximum run permitted given the PCB copper traces on LED ribbon tape is typically 5 meters or 16.4 feet. If additional lengths of linear LEDs are desired to be connected to the same ILC-xx0 (that has available wattage capacity), a secondary home run of low-voltage wire needs to connect the secondary run back to the output of the ILC-xx0 controller.

3 | 4 | Common + | RGB or Tri-White Dimming |
4 | 5 | Common + | RGBW, or a pair of Bi-White Devices, or up to 4 monochrome devices |
