Backgrounder on e-Nodes--types available, mounting issues, max. quantities, mixing e-Nodes.
Important Topics that should be considered are summarized below:
- Gateway Types Available
See Table below for general specifications of all CSI Gateways.
Note: When changing modality, it is important to reboot the e-Node for the new protocol to take effect. Also, there is a maximum of one modality that can be active at one time.

Depending upon the model of Gateway differing number of fixtures/output devices can be supported. See table below for important difference between Gateway.

Typically our Gateways are either mounted in the equipment rack or remotely depending upon of the design of the system. If the e-Node is mounted in the equipment rack, a LAN cable must be run the e-Node. Then associated ILC-xx0 controllers, including ILC-640d DALI II controllers can be mounted up to 4000 feet away provided CAT5 or better cabling is used between the e-Node's relevant output port and the downstream controller. See separate document for mounting options within DIN-RAIL cabinets or similar mounting cabinets. enclosurs.
- Number of e-Node (Gateways) that can exist within a single system and can they be of mixed type (i.e., Pure Mode/DMX Mode/DALI II)?
There is no physical limitation with respect to the e-Node/xxxx Gateway that restricts the number that can be installed on a network (provided the network administrator has allowed for an expanded set of IP addresses and the router can accommodate that number of Gateways). Please refer to your automation system for any requirements that may relate to the number of IP addresses that can be supported. Note: we have a number of vary large system that integrate numbers of e-Nodes (of various models) in the field.
- How many ILC-640d DALI II controllers can be connected to a single e-Node 4x00?
Currently, only one ILC-640d controller can be networked to a single e-Node/4x00. The e-Node/4x00 must be placed in "DALI" mode and rebooted for this protocol to take effect.
